How to Use Different Themes in the Same PowerPoint File?

Today I saw a friend’s tweet, from which he asked “how can I use different themes in the same PowerPoint file”. Well, usually when we create PowerPoint, we use a theme to customize and decorate it. We can make a theme by ourselves, choose a build-in one or import one from other PowerPoint files.

Then is it possible to use different themes in one PowerPoint file? The answer is YES. I've just tried to do this in PowerPoint 2010. Here’s the simple step-by-step process:

Open PowerPoint file with PowerPoint 2010. You can see all the slides are using the same theme.

Click to select a slide (or select multiple slides by pressing Ctrl key). For instance, I choose 3 slides here. Then click Design tab in the toolbar. Different Themes are shown below.

Move your mouse over these themes and stay on them, you can see the preview. Remember just don’t click on the theme now, otherwise all slides would be applied.

When you have made your choice, just right-click on the theme and choose Apply to Selected Slides from the drop-down menu.

Now the theme of 3 slides has been changed to a new one. You can easily change different themes in a PowerPoint file in this way.

3 Methods to Play PowerPoint on HTC One

HTC One
HTC One
A new smartphone was introduced by HTC in New York & London on February 19. This long-rumored handset, HTC One (former named HTC M7), is treated as one of opponents of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4. The phone will be rolled out in North America at the end of March, with black or silver color for choice. Price issues are not mentioned yet, but the company claimed that current HTC users could have a $100 back when they trade in their old phone and buy the new “One”.

Specifications
  • Android 4.1.2 OS
  • 4.7-inch 1080P LCD display with 1920 x 1080 pixels and 468ppi
  • 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 32 or 64GB of ROM
  • 4MP rear camera, 2.1MP front camera
  • 2,300mAh battery
  • GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi
Highlights

UltraPixel. A new camera technology called UltraPixel is used on HTC One. Though the phone’s rear camera is only 4MP, with UltraPixel, which absorbs more than 300 times the light of a megapixel, makes HTC One the clear favorite in low light environments.

BlinkFeed. BlinkFeed is a new feature to display social networks, news and feeds to users home screen. HTC says it has 1,400 content partners signed up, one of the big ones is ESPN.

HTC Zoe. Zoe, a photo creation and sharing app which lets users create photos using three-second videos. Sound similar to Vine, which is produced by twitter.

As we mentioned above, this phone is suitable to take photos and play SNSs. Then how about playing PowerPoint? As a high-end smartphone with Android OS, there should be at least 3 ways to view PowerPoint on HTC One.

Office apps. Users can find several Office apps on Google Play, such as Documents To Go and Kingsoft Office. These free or paid tools can help users play or even edit PowerPoint on Android devices. However, mobile Office apps are not like Office suite on computer. Some PowerPoint elements can’t be shown on these apps, for instance, background music and animations.

Convert PowerPoint to PDF. If users are on Office 2010/2013, it could be easy to convert PPT to PDF formats directly. Then transfer these PDF files to HTC One and play them with Adobe Reader. Disadvantage of this method is the same as the previous one: no sounds or animations, just pictures.

Convert PowerPoint to video. To play PowerPoint on HTC One with background music and animation effects remained, users can convert presentations to video formats in advance. With the help of Moyea PPT to video converter, a free download program for PowerPoint conversion, it could be convenient to do the trick.

The whole process takes a few steps. Install and launch the converter, then import PowerPoint files. Set the output video format as “mp4”, video codec as “H.264”, video size as “1920 x 1080” and audio codec as “AAC”. Click the “Start” button to start conversion. It could be done in a few minutes. The last but not least step is to transfer videos to the phone. Enjoy viewing PowerPoint on HTC One!
